Jeremiah Staggs’ YXZ at 2016 BlueWater

We are ecstatic to have Jeremiah on our team running our race-ready MotoHammer tires and R-Forged F1 wheels.  Jeremiah told us about his weekend and his run for the podium in Parker.

WE WERE EXCITED FOR BLUE WATER AS IT WAS OUR FIRST BITD RACE BACK SINCE THE MINT400 AND WE HAD GOTTEN THE CAR ALL DIALED IN. I MADE A BIG MISTAKE AND MISSED THE DRAW BY 1 DAY SO WE STARTED IN THE BACK. I HAVE NEVER RACED THIS RACE BEFORE AS I USUALLY WOULD BE RACING LUCAS OIL REGIONALS WHICH IS ON THE SAME WEEKEND.

THURSDAY NIGHT WE WOULD MAKE OUR TRIP TO PARKER WHERE WE ARRIVED LATE THURSDAY NIGHT. FRIDAY MORNING WE WOULD GET UP EARLY AND GO GET IN LINE. TECH WENT FAST AND EASY FOR US AND THEN IT WAS OFF TO GIVE THE CAR A QUICK LOOK OVER SO IT WAS READY FOR DAY 1.

SATURDAY MORNING WE WOULD LEAVE LA PAZ CAMP GROUND AND HEAD TOWARDS MAIN PIT/START AS WE CAME OVER THE HILL I WAS ALREADY SUPRISED BY THE DUST IT WAS CRAZY LIKE WE WERE GOING INTO A DUST STORM. WE WOULD UNLOAD THE CAR, UNHITCH THE TRAILER AND THE CREW GOT THE TRUCK LOADED UP TO HEAD TO THE HOT PIT AS WE MADE OUR WAY OVER TO THE START. WE HAD WORK TO DO WE WERE STARTING DAY ONE OFF 37TH OVERALL OUT OF 59 UTVS TOTAL AND WE NEW THE DUST WAS GOING TO BE A TOUGH FACTOR.

THE GREEN LIGHT DROPPED AND WE TOOK OFF , THE CO DRIVER BRANDON ALTMANN QUICKLY INFORMED ME THE GPS WASN’T WORKING SO FOR THE FIRST FEW MILES WE HAD NO GPS AND THE DUST WAS INSANE, VISIBILITY WAS ZERO. WE DECIDED TO PLAY IT SAFE AND TAKE THE FIRST LAP TO GET TO SEE THE COURSE. THE GPS WOULD FINALLY START WORKING AFTER BRANDON PUSHED SOME BUTTONS HAHA. STARTING TO GET SOME CLEAN AIR HEAR AND THERE WOULD ALLOW US TO START PUSHING A LITTLE HARDER, HITTING 86 MPH DOWN THE PAVED ROAD ALONG THE RIVER WE WOULD MAKE THE SHARP LEFT AND HEAD UP THE HILL. AS WE CAME DOWN DEVILS DROP THE CAR WOULD SLIDE SIDEWAYS ALMOST LIKE WE HAD A FLAT BUT WE WERE SURE AS WE COULDN’T SEE ANY FLAT TIRES BUT STARTED HEARING A CLUNK IN THE PASSENGER FRONT SO WE STARTED LIMPING IT, WE THEN REALIZED WE HAD A BROKEN FRONT AXLE 12 MILES INTO LAP ONE, WE DECIDED IT WOULD BE FASTER TO LIMP IT INTO THE HOT PIT WHICH WAS AT MILE MARKER 23 AND HAVE THE CREW REMOVE THE FRONT AXLE. WE CAME INTO THE HOT PIT ON LAP 2 AND THE CREW QUICKLY REMOVED THE AXLE AND WE PUT IT IN 2WD AND TOOK OFF ON LAP TWO, THE AXLE COST US ALOT OF TIME. THE NEXT TWO LAPS WE WOULD PUSH THROUGH THE DUST AND THE HUGE WHOOPS AND FINISH DAY 1 OFF WITH A 10TH IN CLASS AND 25TH OVERALL. WE QUICKLY LOADED UP THE CAR AND WENT BACK TO CAMP AND WASHED IT, REPLACED THE FRONT AXLE AND FINISHED PREP FOR DAY 2.

SUNDAY MORNING WE LEFT CAMP AND CAME OVER THE HILL TO SEE AGAIN THE DUST AND THIS TIME IT WAS WORSE THEN DAY 1 WITH NO BREEZE. WE GOT THE CAR UNLOADED AND THE CREW LOADED THE TRUCK UP TO HEAD TO THE HOT PIT AS WE HEADED TO THE START. STARTING 25TH OVERALL WE KNEW WE HAD A LOT MORE WORK TODAY AND NEEDED A SOLID RUN. THE GREEN LIGHT WOULD DROP WITH GPS WORKING THIS TIME AND WE QUICKLY TOOK OFF INTO THE DUST. THE CARS/TRUCKS HAD DESTROYED THE COURSE AND IT QUICKLY TOOK ITS TOLL AS WE STARTED PASSING CARS THAT HAD CRASHED OR BROKEN DUE TO THE HUGE SQUARE EDGE WHOOPS AND NO VISIBILITY IN THE DUST. WE WOULD PLAY IT SMART AND MY CO DRIVER BRANDON DID A AWESOME JOB CALLING OUT THE GPS WHEN WE HAD NO VISIBILITY, FINALLY GOING INTO LAP 3 WE HAD CLEAN AIR AND WOULD PUSH HARD ALL THE WAY TO THE END, BRANDON HOT ON THE GPS AND CALLING OUT THE GOOD LINES AND DANGERS HE HAD MARKED OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS AND WE WOULD MAKE UP A LOT OF TIME AND PASS MANY CARS TO GIVE US 4TH IN CLASS FINISH AND 12TH OVERALL OUT OF 59 UTVS. PARKER WAS A CHALLENGE AND IT THROUGH ALL KINDS OF CURVES AT US BUT WE PUSHED HARD AND SHOWED THIS YXZ1000R HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO GET UP TOP WITH THE BEST AND GIVE THE OTHER MANUFACTURERS A RUN IN THE BIGGEST AND ROUGHEST OFF ROAD SERIES IN THE USA.

I want to give a huge thank you to my friends and family. Without their support none of this would be possible.

A big thanks to all the sponsors that helped me get here.
